Make reading part of your child's summer

KCPL offers programs for all age groups, but our Summer Library Club for kids is particularly important. In addition to being lots of fun, Summer Library Club encourages our younger patrons to maintain their reading skills over the summer.

Studies show that children who participate in summer reading clubs are better prepared when school starts in August. When children develop strong study skills and a love of reading, they build a foundation for success in school and later in life.

Families are invited to celebrate May as Get Caught Reading Month by attending one of the many children's storytimes KCPL offers. They include

  • Baby & Me (for birth to 18 month olds)
  • Tiny Tots (for 18 to 36 month olds)
  • Books 'n' More (for 3 to 5 year olds)
  • Family Night storytimes

Look for these storytimes and more on our program schedule and be sure to check out books to read together at home!
