Campaign Naming Opportunities

The Open a Modern Classic Capital Campaign provides an ideal opportunity to permanently link a donor's or loved one's name with the tradition and the future of the library

Atrium

The atrium will serve as the central focus of the building, providing four stories of natural light and serving as the access point to all the public service areas as well as circulation services such as check-out and reserved materials pick-up.

Children's Department

$5 million

Designed to appeal to children of all ages with appropriately sized furniture and shelving, this department will include cozy reading areas, quiet study rooms as well as access to computer technology.

Popular Library Department

$3 million

The adult fiction and audiovisual materials will be housed in this department. The department will also include a number of casual reading areas, listening/viewing stations and assistive devices for the handicapped.

Non-Fiction and Reference Department

This department on the second floor will contain a large, in-depth collection of information and reference resources on a wide variety of topics for adults and students. More than 70 computer workstations will be located in this area.

West Virginia Room

$2.5 million

This room located near the entry to the Nonfiction and Reference Department will be designed with appropriate climate controls to house the library's collection of West Virginia materials including a large collection of local historic photographs.

Audiovisual Resources Area

$1 million

Located in the Popular Library, this area will showcase the thousands of audiovisual materials that make up an integral and popular portion of the library's materials collection.

Medical Resources Area

$1 million

Located in the Non-Fiction/Reference Department, this area will showcase the numerous resources offered by the library including print materials and electronic databases.

Meeting Rooms

Up to 250 people can take advantage of programs offered by the library or other community organizations. This space can be subdivided into as many as three simultaneous meeting spaces.

Early Literacy and Pre-School Discovery Area

This area of the Children's Department is designed for young children and their caregivers to work together at interactive stations to develop early literacy and pre-reading skills.

Children's Program Space

Adjacent to the picture book area in the Children's Department, this space will be conducive to providing a wide variety of children's programs. A movable wall will facilitate handling a larger number of children should the need arise.

Outdoor Reading Garden and Café

Reserved

A café serving light refreshments will be located near the south entrance to the atrium. A walled reading garden adjacent to the café will allow library patrons to read outdoors when the weather permits.

Technology Training Room

Reserved

Sixteen computer workstations will be available to provide training on various computer software programs or the library's electronic resources to the public and library staff.

Young Adult Area

This separate area in the popular library will be expressly designed to encourage teens to spend time in reading/viewing/listening to a wide variety of materials.

Gallery

This space adjacent to the meeting rooms on the second floor will allow the library to offer educational and cultural exhibits from such sources as the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Terrace

Patrons will enter this outdoor patio from the Gallery overlooking the corner of Lee Street and Leon Sullivan Way.

Located adjacent to the periodical display in the Non-Fiction/Reference Department, this area will provide comfortable seating and quiet place for reading or conducting research.

These five rooms will accommodate either individuals who need a quiet study area, literacy tutors and their students, or group of up to four people who desire to work on a project together.

Small Business Center

Located within the Nonfiction and Reference Department, this area will bring together the library's many resource materials, including electronic databases, which will provide assistance to small business owners.

Career Center

This area in the Nonfiction and Reference Department will house information on individual careers, along with resources related to college admission or specialized technical programs, resume writing and interview skills.

Board Room

In addition to serving as a meeting room for library and community activities, this room on the third floor will also serve as the meeting space for the 18-member Library Board of Directors.
