Margaret Rush: Irish Songs and Circle Dancing for Children

March 4, 1:00 PM

Main Library

Type: Classes/Workshops
Age: Babies 0-18 Months, Pre-K 3-5 Years, Toddler 18-36 Months
Topic: Celtic Music, Movement and Dance

Margaret Rush, a traditional Irish singer and guitarist from Dublin, Ireland, now living in Raleigh, North Carolina, will lead an interactive, fun, musical and movement experience for young children and their grown-ups. Bring along babies, toddlers and children up to 7 years old, to a 45-minute class including songs, movement, musical props, and of course lots of fun and silliness – all through Irish music! Parents and caregivers, get ready to participate! This activity is an informal, non-performance-oriented musical experience--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers, regardless of their own musical ability. Margaret will be joined by fiddler Andi Hearn to provide live jigs, reels and polkas. Together, they are members of the Irish music trio Beeswing (www.beeswingmusic.com). Light refreshments will be provided, courtesy of The Friends of The Library Foundation. Ages birth to 7 years, plus parents.
