Join award-winning author Dwight Harshbarger as he talks about his new novel "Valley at Risk: Shelter in Place." The novel follows investigative reporter Julie Brown as she digs out the insides story of a chemical plant explosion that killed two but had the potential to kill hundreds more. Set in mythical Jackson, West Virginia, Harshbarger’s novel will resonate strongly with all those who live in the shadow of chemical plants and other industrial facilities where leaks, spills, or overheating boilers could spell catastrophe. A book signing will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Harshbarger, now an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University won The West Virginia Library Association Award for Literary Merit in 2011 for his novel “Witness at Hawks Nest.” He has served as a vice president of Reebok and has extensive experience in safety engineering and in consulting with companies around the country on management systems. A native of Milton, he now lives in Morgantown, West Virginia.
