National Novel Writing Month began in 1999 as a daunting but straightforward challenge: to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. Now, each year on November 1, hundreds of thousands of people around the world begin to write, determined to end the month with 50,000 words of a brand new novel.

Join the KCPL NaNoWriMo challenge and do your best to try to write 50,000 words this month! Each activity badge represents words written. Everyone who completes the program and earns the 50,000 point badge will win a light-up KCPL logo pen (while supplies last)! Also be sure to check out our Facebook page daily during the month of November for a new writing prompt to help get your creative juices flowing. Print calendars of writing prompts are also available. Ages 14 and up.
