Preserving Your Memories with StoryCorps

July 17, 6:00 PM

Main Library

Type: Classes/Workshops
Age: Adult and Teen
Topic: Oral History

Have you ever wanted to record a family history or even something a little less daunting like a conversation with a family member or friend about an important event or memory? Would you like to preserve the voice, lessons or advice of a loved one for future generations - even for yourself? Jennifer Sias, a professor at Marshall University and lover of oral histories and storytelling, will teach you how to preserve those memories using a free app called StoryCorps. She will explain what StoryCorps is and include footage of some of the interviews that have been conducted of ordinary people by ordinary people in all walks of life, like you and me. Just bring a smartphone (like an iPhone or any other model that allows you to download an app) with you. For more information about the StoryCorps Project go to https://storycorps.org/.
