The Influence of Bob Dylan on The Beatles

March 14, 6:00 PM

Main Library

Type: Music, Performances
Age: Adult and Teen
Topic: Entertainment, Music

With his folksy guitar playing and philosophical lyrics, no other contemporary influenced the songwriting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney more than Bob Dylan. This 60-minute multimedia presentation will trace the compositional maturation of the Beatles, showing how they developed from teenybopper pop stars into the foremost musical artists of their era by illustrating in detail Dylan's influence. A performance by Charleston's premier Beatles Tribute Band Rubber Soul will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served and a copy of the CD "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band" will be raffled off in honor of the 50th anniversary of its release, courtesy of The Friends of The Library Foundation. Though born 15 years after the band broke up, Aaron Krerowicz is the United States’ only full-time Beatles music scholar. He has done more than 250 presentations throughout the U.S. and England. Aaron has authored four Beatles books. For more information, and to register for his free monthly email newsletter, visit his website:
