Ask your preschooler to "read" his or her favorite book to you. If your preschooler does not tell you the exact story from the book, that is fine. This allows your toddler to imitate reading habits and practices.
While reading books, ask your preschooler to predict what will happen in the story.
Ask your preschooler to tell you about school or activities that you enjoyed together.
Encourage your preschooler to play "pretending" games like house, school, library, car wash, etc. These types of imaginary games help develop language skills.
