Have you ever found yourself with some free time and all you want is a hot bestseller to read? Or a rainy evening you want to spend with a new movie?
Then the Express Collection is for you! The Express Collection is a small collection of high-demand, best-selling titles available for immediate checkout by the lucky patron who visits the library when these titles are on the shelf. You can get an Express item on a first-come, first-served basis – nobody can place a hold on these copies, but if it’s on the shelf when you come in, it’s yours!
There are two types of Express Collections:
- Express Books. These books are the bestsellers from your favorite authors that usually have a lot of holds on them. The collection can include the newest James Patterson or Nora Roberts, or the book version of that hot new movie. You can check out two Express Books at a time. Express Books check out for seven days with no renewals.
- Express DVDs. These DVDs are the hottest movies that many patrons are waiting for. The collection can include the newest DVDs of a Marvel superhero movie, or a DVD of particular interest to residents of Kanawha County, like movies filmed in WV. You can check out two Express DVDs at a time. Express DVDs check out for two days with no renewals.
The Express Collection is meant to move fast, so it is important that you return materials on time. Overdue fines for both the Express Books and Express DVDs will be charged at a rate of $1 per day, with no grace period. Patrons may not place a hold on these particular copies, although every Express item has a copy in the regular collection that you can place a hold on. These items may not be picked up at the drive-through window at the Main Library; patrons must physically come into the library to check them out.
For more information, or to see what titles are available (for now!), call your local library.
