Noon Year's Eve Celebration! Children and families are invited to help us celebrate the New Year by counting down the minutes until noon! Balloon sculptor Robert Edsel Young will be attending the party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crafts, stories, and New Year's traditions from around the globe round out this special family event. Refreshments provided by The Friends of The Library.

Ready, Set, Create! Power from Nature In this engineering challenge for children in grades 2 - 5, participants will learn of emerging technologies related to sustainable energy production. Around the World Literary Journey Reading and Discussion Group This book discussion group features nine works from a global array of established authors whose geographical settings range from Australia to the Greek Islands. Several of these works were adapted to the cinema which further enlivens the discussions. This month’s selection is "Heat and Dust" by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. The group meets the first Thursday of each month September 2018 through May 2019. Discussion leader is Tim Basford.

Family Dinner Book Club Do you want your family dinner time to be more satisfying? Join the club! The Clendenin Library will be hosting the Family Dinner Book Club, a creation of Growing Book by Book, a Guide to Nurturing Young Readers. Growing Book by Book says “This fun family project is meant to bring your family closer together over good books, good food, and great conversation.” The club will meet monthly at which time you will be able to pick up the next month’s book and activity packet.
