Grant Writing Workshop Join us for a Grant Writing 101 workshop where you will learn how to use a Program Planning Framework to plan your grant applications so they tell a strong, consistent story. As we go through the Program Planning Framework, each section of a typical grant application will be highlighted with information on what funders are looking for and tips on how to write that section. By the time the session is over, you will understand what funders are looking for in grant applications, be able to decipher confusing grant-related terminology, have a usable system to connect all the pieces of an application together, and have strategies to infuse your organization's strengths in your proposal to make it strong and competitive. Alice Ruhnke, founder and owner of The Grant Advantage, will be leading this workshop. Seating is limited for this workshop. Registration is required.

Sissonville Community Halloween Party It's that time of year again for our Community Halloween Party! All ages are welcome for this wonderful event. Children and adults are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes. There will be games, candy, and some Spooktacular treats! Everyone who comes in costume can enter to win a grand prize.

Children in grades K-6 are invited to write or illustrate how they can create peace in the world. Pick up an entry sheet. Return your work by Nov. 25, 2019. Choose a cool peace prize for participating. All submissions will be displayed during the Holiday Open House. A grand prize for both writer and illustrator will be drawn at random on Dec. 9, 2019.

Crafts, refreshments, music, face painting and more. Watch creepy crawly flesh eating bugs perform skeletonization - the process of cleaning bones. Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration Join us for our adult Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebration! Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday also celebrated in parts of the US. Learn more about the history and traditions of the holiday with informative displays, food, and activities. Create cempasuchil (paper marigolds) and make your own Mexican hot chocolate mix to drink at the event or to take with you. As part of the holiday, many who celebrate create an ofrenda ("offering" in Spanish), with photos of their loved ones who have passed on. To honor the tradition, we encourage you to bring photos of your loved ones to add to our KCPL ofrenda while you're at the event. Stop by any time between 1:00pm and 4:00pm to experience Dia de los Muertos! FYI: We are also having teen and family celebrations! Check out our "Events & Classes" page for more details.
