Dimensional Embroidered Christmas Ornament In this hand embroidery class, participants will learn how to make bullion roses, the foliage stitch and French knots. Finishing technique will also be taught. All materials will be provided, though participants are asked to bring a pair of scissors. Class size is limited. Registration required. Adult Crafternoon: Tie-Dyed Tile Coasters Enjoy an afternoon of relaxation, crafting, and time with friends. This month we will make coasters that we dye with colorful permanent markers. All materials will be provided. There is a limit of 15 participants, so please make sure to call the library to register or register online via our online calendar. Make sure to bring a friend.

Family Mixed-Media Art Workshop What better way for families to celebrate November as Picture Book Month than by creating their own mixed-media art in celebration of beloved picture books? Local artist Debi Ellis (https://www.debiellis.com/) will help your family create your own masterpiece using paint and collage materials. Work together and have fun! Limited to 15 participants with children being ages 5 & up. Registration opens on October 22. Please allow approximately 2 hours per session.

Healthy Holiday Eating Are the holidays a stumbling block to keeping good eating habits or do you feel left out while everyone else eats the “good stuff?” April Simpson from the West Virginia University Extension Service has a four part plan to leave you feeling positive about your holiday celebrations. Participants will look at techniques to maintain weight over the holiday. The group will look at portion sizes and control. April will show how to swap out healthy alternatives that still satisfy. Lastly the group will look at how to stay active during the holidays even as the holiday calendar gets booked up. Registration is required and begins November 15.

Holiday Open House Bring in the holiday season with a celebration at the library. Decorate the library’s Christmas tree, play games, make crafts and have your picture drawn by Caricature artist Gordon Parker. Musical entertainment will be provided by the West Virginia Youth Symphony, featuring a string quartet and an ensemble of local youth. Refreshments and door prizes provided by the Clendenin Library Advisory Board. All ages welcome!
