Mountain Magic: Susanna Holstein, Mountain Jack Tales Join professional storyteller and West Virginia History Hero Susanna “Granny Sue” Holstein for an evening of thrilling stories and songs about that Appalachian trickster, Jack! Holstein has captivated audiences of all ages with her stories and ballads for over twenty years. Mountain Magic is a celebration of the rich literary and storytelling heritage of West Virginia. Come sit with us for a spell as we share the songs and folklore of Appalachia, from true stories of life in the mountains to chilling tales of haunted hollows. Children: 6-12 Years, Teens and Adults. Mountain Magic is sponsored by The West Virginia Humanities Council, Step by Step, Kanawha County Public Library and The Friends of The Library Foundation.

Pizza Fundraiser Mention the library when you order from the Sissonville Husson's on April 2, May 7, and June 4 and they will donate 25% of your purchase cost to the library! These funds will go towards the library's annual assessment and programs for all ages.

Around the World Literary Journey Reading and Discussion Group This book discussion group features nine works from a global array of established authors whose geographical settings range from Australia to the Greek Islands. Several of these works were adapted to the cinema which further enlivens the discussions. This month’s selection is "Open Secrets" by Alice Munro. The group meets the first Thursday of each month September 2018 through May 2019. Discussion leader is Tim Basford.

Family Dinner Book Club Do you want your family dinner time to be more satisfying? Join the club! The Clendenin Branch Library will be hosting the Family Dinner Book Club, a creation of Growing Book by Book, a Guide to Nurturing Young Readers. Growing Book by Book says “This fun family project is meant to bring your family closer together over good books, good food, and great conversation.” The club will meet monthly at which time you will be able to pick up the next month’s book and activity packet.
