Operation Tomodachi, the Great Tohoku Earthquake, Tsunami, and Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Meltdown Dr. Michael Brumage, MD, MPH, FACP, who recently retired as a Colonel after a 25-year career in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, was in Japan during the Great Tohoku Earthquake of 2011. He will share his own story as a participant in the U.S. military relief effort in support of the Japanese Government called “Operation Tomodachi," the largest humanitarian/disaster relief operation in the history of the U.S. Armed Forces. Dr. Brumage is currently the Executive Director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department as well as Health Officer for Kanawha County and Putnam County, West Virginia. He is the Co-Chair for the West Virginia ACEs Coalition.

Reconnect with Your Library It's been a long year, but we're ready to celebrate being back in our Elkview location. Drop in anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. for a time of reconnecting with old friends, a round or two of library miniature golf and perusing the shelves while you complete a library scavenger hunt. Also enjoy crafts and refreshments provided by the Elk Valley Library Advisory Board.
