Eating Smart, Being Active Please join April Simpson with The Family Nutrition Program at WVU Extension in a FREE weekly-every Monday-on nutrition and exercise titled Eating Smart, Being Active (ESBA). There will be a free kitchen gadget and recipe given to each registered participant at every class along with a time of moderate exercise and taste testing of a recipe prepared together. Registration begins December 10 and will close when registration reaches 17 participants.

Book Lovers Unite: a book discussion group Join the new book group that meets at the Riverside Public Library! The group will meet on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The discussion will be "Last Ragged Breath" by Julia Keller. Copies are available for checkout at the circulation desk. Let's Sew! Get to know your sewing machine. Did you get a sewing machine for Christmas? Do you have a sewing machine that has been sitting around for years? Come and join our sewing group! We will focus on learning how to turn your machine on, threading your machine, and practice different stitches. Please bring your machine, thread and a couple of pieces of scrap fabric.

Outlier: The Story of Katherine Johnson “Outlier: The Story of Katherine Johnson,” an hour-long documentary produced by MotionMasters, focuses on the young woman from West Virginia who graduated high school at age 14, college at age 18 and went on to become a physicist, space scientist and mathematician famous for accuracy in celestial navigation. This documentary includes an interview with Johnson herself, as well as interviews with NASA's chief historian, a curator at the Smithsonian's Air & Space Museum, and an interview with author Margot Lee Shetterly. It is best suited for grades 3 to adult. Refreshments are provided courtesy of The Friends of the Library.
