Escape the Library! In this Escape Room-style event, zombies have taken over and now they're hungry for pizza! There's only one left and it's safely locked up in the library, until the zombies start breaking down the door to devour it. Can you get the pizza and yourself safely out of the library in 60 minutes or less? Teens only. Registration is required and opens May 1.

Early Native Americans in West Virginia Once thought of as Indian hunting grounds with no permanent inhabitants, West Virginia is teeming with evidence of a thriving early native population. Today’s farmers can hardly plow their fields without uncovering ancient artifacts, evidence of at least ten thousand years of occupation. Members of the Fort Ancient culture resided along the rich bottomlands of southern West Virginia during the Late Prehistoric and Protohistoric periods. Lost to time and rediscovered in the 1880s, Fort Ancient sites dot the West Virginia landscape. This volume explores sixteen of these sites, including Buffalo, Logan and Orchard. Archaeologist Darla Spencer excavates the fascinating lives of some of the Mountain State’s earliest inhabitants in search of who these people were, what languages they spoke and who their descendants may be. Darla Spencer focuses her career on studying early Native American civilizations and archaeology. She is a registered professional archaeologist and currently serves as a board of directors’ member for the Council for West Virginia Archaeology. She is the secretary and treasurer for the West Virginia Archaeological Society. She has also worked with the Native American History Council of West Virginia. Darla teaches Native American studies at West Virginia University. A book signing will follow her presentation.

Off the Hook Knit & Crochet Club Socialize with other crafters while you work on your knitted and crocheted projects. Bring your own supplies. All levels of expertise are welcome, and Off the Hook members are happy to help beginners as they learn new skills. Always held on the fourth Thursday of the month.
