Mountain Magic: Jo Ann Dadisman, Peeking Behind the Story Join veteran storyteller Jo Ann Dadisman as she spins a tale from her native Preston County. Afterwards, she will take the audience on an interactive journey to explore the story behind that story. By the end of the evening, everyone will be eager to share their own stories with family and friends! Dadisman has told stories for more than 50 years in order to preserve the unique culture and heritage of West Virginia. For nearly two decades she performed as half of storytelling duo The Mountain Echoes. Mountain Magic is a celebration of the rich literary and storytelling heritage of West Virginia. Come sit with us for a spell as we share the songs and folklore of Appalachia, from true stories of life in the mountains to chilling tales of haunted hollows. All Ages. Mountain Magic is sponsored by The West Virginia Humanities Council, Step by Step, Kanawha County Public Library and The Friends of The Library Foundation.

A Tisket, A Tasket, A Literary Basket Hosted by The Friends of The Library Foundation, this annual fundraising event is a silent auction of donated baskets. Nearly 100 baskets for all ages will be available to bid on during the event which will be held at Temple Israel, 2312 Kanawha Boulevard, East in Charleston. All proceeds benefit Kanawha County Public Library. Refreshments by The Bridge Road Bistro. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
