The Dark Visitor: Conversations about Death and Dying Martha Spalding Mozingo will facilitate this five-part series. Martha has an MA degree in Counseling and is a member of Mensa. Group discussions will follow each session. This week's topic is The Death Positive Movement, whose mission is to teach our society how to explore its relationship with death. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions for the most benefit. Booklists and other resources will be provided. Refreshments will be served. Please note: This series does not address issues with grief. If you have recently experienced a loss, please consider using local clergy, therapists, and Kanawha Hospice. We will not deal with grief counseling in this series. Registration is required and begins August 22.

Family Night: Rock Painting This new fad has everyone talking, so come join in the fun! We'll be painting rocks of all different shapes and sizes. Once you're done, you can hide them for others to find. Registration for this class opens on August 29.

Playgroup at the Library All the fun of a traditional playgroup but none of the fuss! A great opportunity for adults and children to play and interact under caregivers' supervision. Drop in to socialize with other families and play with toys reserved just for this age group. We provide the toys and clean up the mess, and you need only to provide the energetic youngster!

Coast to Coast: Contemporary American Writers Reading and Discussion Group This book discussion series focuses on some new voices in contemporary American literature. This month's selection is "Brown Girl, Brownstones" by Paule Marshall. The group meets the first Thursday of each month September 2017 through May 2018. Discussion leader is Tim Basford. Copies of the books are limited and may be picked up at the Reference Desk.

These rocks are to be photographed, shared and hidden in a new spot. Find out more information and paint your own rocks at our event.
