The Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions Discussion 2019 Join us the third Monday of each month through November (except July) for the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions Discussion. This national program is designed to engage citizens in learning about the world, and it emphasizes discussion and active participation from those attending. Each participant gets briefing books that feature impartial, thought-provoking analyses on eight issues of concern to U.S. policymakers today and will then be asked to report, either individually or as part of a group, on a specific topic. This month's topic is "State of the State Department and Diplomacy." Everyone welcome.

Children in grades K-6 are invited to write or illustrate how they can create peace in the world. Pick up an entry sheet. Return your work by Nov. 25, 2019. Choose a cool peace prize for participating. All submissions will be displayed during the Holiday Open House. A grand prize for both writer and illustrator will be drawn at random on Dec. 9, 2019.

Blurred Lines: Youth Gaming Do you know what an eSport is? How about a loot box? Do you know what Twitch is? If you have kids, chances are they are familiar with all those terms. As the lines blur between online gaming and gambling, many kids are spending real money online chasing a get rich quick fantasy. Sheila Moran of the Problem Gamblers Help Network of West Virginia will discuss what parents and teachers need to know about Internet Gaming Disorder, how gaming can lead to problem gambling, and she will share the surprising results of a survey her group did with WV youth groups.

The Sissonville Cookbook Club meets every other month on the fourth Thursday, 6:00 p.m. at the Sissonville Branch Library. Here's how to participate: 1. Check out a cookbook that fits the monthly theme. 2. Test out a recipe or two. 3. Pick up and complete a review form. 4.
