Decorate the Children's Services holiday tree with new items for babies (bibs, rattles, socks, etc) and mittens, hats, and scarves for children. Clean Up Our World In this engineering challenge for children in grades 2 - 5, participants identify sources of water pollution in our community and experiment with water filtration methods. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to participate with their children. Supplies are provided. Registration opens November 5.

Around the World Literary Journey Reading and Discussion Group This book discussion group features nine works from a global array of established authors whose geographical settings range from Australia to the Greek Islands. Several of these works were adapted to the cinema which further enlivens the discussions. This month’s selection is "Corelli's Mandolin" by Louis de Bernieres. The group meets the first Thursday of each month September 2018 through May 2019. Discussion leader is Tim Basford. Please note that the group will begin meeting at the Dunbar Branch Library in January.

Dimensional Embroidered Christmas Ornament In this hand embroidery class, participants will learn how to make bullion roses, the foliage stitch and French knots. Finishing technique will also be taught. All materials will be provided though participants are asked to bring a pair of scissors. Class size is limited. Registration required. Rescheduled Holiday Open House Get in the holiday mood this Saturday at the Main Library’s Annual Holiday Open House. Activities for all ages are planned. There will be cookies and punch on the first floor of the library following the parade. Santa and Mrs. Claus are making a special stop at our library in the Children’s Department from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Bring the whole family to meet them! Be sure to bring your camera and holiday wishes! There will also be refreshments and holiday crafts. All refreshments are provided courtesy of The Friends of The Library Foundation.
