R.S. Penn Pannatorum

R.S. Penn Pannatorum would press your suit for 50 cents back in the early 1900s. This is another early photo of an African-American owned business in Charleston. According to the 1920 City Directory, Rufus S. and his wife Eulah May lived above the store as was common at the time. Mr. Penn was a widower when he died at 62 in 1935. The West Virginia Archives has their marriage license from 1918. (KCPL photo C3 #655)
