Programs for teens scheduled at libraries in January
Anime, gaming, crafts and a new contest - teens will find activities just for them at area libraries in January. Call the host library for more information or to register.

Love is in the Air...or Not Contest
Month of January
Do you LOVE Valentine's Day or think it's a silly, mushy day that everyone makes a big deal out of? Anti-Valentines Day or love Valentine's Day, write a story or poem expressing your feelings and submit it by January 31. Books and other goodies will be awarded to the best entries.
Ages 12 - 18.
Open Play
Second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m., John V. Ray Room
Show off your gaming skills! Video games and board games will be provided.
Gamers Lair
Second Saturday of the month, 9 - 11a.m., John V. Ray Room
Do you like trading card games or role playing games? Come to the library and enjoy the company of other card playing enthusiasts. Feel free to come or leave at any point. The Gamers Lair will be open to all.
Anime Club
Second Saturday of the month, 3 p.m., John V. Ray Room
Bring your friends and watch some great new features from Operation Anime.
Human Bingo
Saturday, January 10, 1 p.m., John V. Ray Room
Like playing Bingo? Try this version where you Bingo based on your qualities.
Teen Crafts
Tuesday, January 6, 6 p.m.
Choose from a variety of crafts, from beads to painting. Use your creativity to make something for home or school.
Ages 12 - 18 • Registration required.
Game On! @ the Library
Every Friday, 3:30 p.m.
Stop by and play Dance, Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band on the big screen.
Games alternate each Friday, so stop by and see what’s up!
Grades 4 & up.
Anime Movie Night
Third Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m.
Come see a new anime flick and review it for Operation Anime. Don’t forget to bring a friend. Call for movie title and rating.
Grades 6 & up.
Teen Crafts & Games
Third Wednesday of each month, 4 p.m.
Take a break at the library after school and work on crafts or play board games – relax and have some fun! Supplies and light refreshments provided by the Cross Lanes Library Board.

Battle of the Bands
Friday, January 16, noon - 4:30 p.m.
Get your Rock Band together and see whose band can get the highest score! Guitar Hero will be available for solo acts to challenge each other. Also, a separate TV PlayStation will be set up in the main library area for all to play Dance, Dance Revolution. Light refreshments will be provided by the Cross Lanes Library Board.
Grades 4 & up.
The Teen Scene
First Monday each month, 4 p.m.
If you like to make crafts, play Guitar Hero or Dance, Dance Revolution stop by and see what's up! Activities will alternate each month, so call and see what we'll be doing (304-766-7161).

Dunbar Anime Club
First Saturday each month, noon
Watch new features from Operation Anime and talk about manga!
DDR and Guitar Hero Challenge
Friday, January 16, all day
No school? No problem! No chance of getting bored. Elk Valley Library is having DDR and Guitar Hero, so stop on by and make some noise.
All ages.
Knitting with Beads
Monday, January 19, 6 p.m.
Knitters, if you're ready for something new, try knitting with beads. In this two hour workshop you will learn to make a bracelet using crochet thread and beautiful beads. Please bring size 3 or 4 knitting needles; all other supplies will be provided. A basic knowledge of casting-on and the knit stitch is required. Class is limited to 10 so register early.
Adults and teens • Registration required.
Puzzle Party!
Thursday, January 29, all day
It's International Puzzle Day and we're going all out celebrating at Elk Valley! We'll puzzle all day and have puzzle crafts from 6 - 7 p.m.
Teen Time
Every Monday, 3 - 5 p.m.
Chase away your Monday Blues at the library. Different activities each Monday – Playstation games (Guitar Hero, Singstar Karaoke, Rock Band, and Dance, Dance Revolution), computer games, snacks, etc!
Teen Night
Third Monday of each month, 6:30 p.m.
Come join other teens for Dance, Dance, Revolution, Guitar Hero, board games and movies. Call your library for the night’s scheduled event.
Collage Art: Keeping Memories
Monday, January 19, 1 - 5 p.m.
Local artisan Jenny Allinder will work with you to create a collage of your favorite photos and other mementos. Come have an afternoon of fun-filled art. A light lunch will be available.
Grades 6 - 12 • Registration required.
Teen Time
Every Monday, 3 to 5 p.m.

Learn to Crochet
Monday, January 26, 6:30 p.m.
Follow-up sessions on the next four Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
Judy Stewart will teach you how to crochet. Make an article as a gift to yourself or someone special. Begin your project during the first session, then take it home and return to the following four sessions to finish it. Yarn and crochet hook will be provided. Limit five.
