Exploring Abraham Lincoln

Exploring Abraham Lincoln

Introduction

He's known as Honest Abe and the Great Emancipator. He was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin in Kentucky. He was a tall guy with a beard and a stovepipe hat. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address. He was assassinated by a failed actor and Confederate spy. And he is widely regarded as one of the greatest presidents in American history.

In honor of Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday, we have put together this reading map with materials for all ages - adults, teens, and children - about Lincoln and Civil War history.

Whichever path you chose, you can always explore Abraham Lincoln at the Kanawha County Public Library.
