West Virginia Financial Aid

There are several sources of financial aid available just to West Virginians!

  • PROMISE Scholarships - A merit-base scholarship program for just for the Mountain State, this web site will clear up eligibility requirements and the application procedure. There are separate pages for high school students, GED or home school students, and college students.
  • WV Higher Education Policy Commission - A great place to get started applying for state-level financial aid. In addition to links to online applications for the PROMISE scholarship and the Higher Education Grant, this site provides instructions on the application process and information on other state-level financial aid.
  • SMART529 - Administered by the West Virginia State Treasurer's Office, the SMART529 plan offers tax incentives while enabling you or a family member to save for college. It's never too late to start saving, and this web site will give you the information you need to get started.
