What is Manga?
Manga is the Japanese word for comics. These comics are usually run as a series and have gender targeted audiences; shohen is marketed to boys, and shojo is marketed to girls. Unlike American comic books, Manga is a well respected art form in Japan read by adults as well as teens and children.
What is Anime?
Anime is a specific style of animation originating in Japan. Characters are portrayed with over the top expressions and a wide use of color. Anime storylines are usually derived from Manga.
